Curious Calais Nature Walks - Beginner Mushroom Foray

Past event
Aug 11, 2024, 11 AM

Join in on Aug 11 at 11:00 AM for this month's Curious Calais Nature Walk. This walk will be a beginner mushroom foray with Fletcher Dean. We will discuss tips and tools for safe identification and ethical harvesting of mushrooms.

We will meet at the end of long meadow hill road. Turn on to long meadow from county road and continue until you get to a dead end. The parking lot is on the right before the driveway. This location is easy to moderate walking on forest paths with gentle hills, roots, and loose rocks. Camera's, bug repellent, and a basket/bag are encouraged, not required. This event is rain or shine.

These walks are hosted throughout the year at different trails around Calais by different volunteers. The walks are intended to encourage curiosity outdoors. There is no prior knowledge required. We will share what we are noticing, the questions we have, and resources available to try and find an answer.

Hope you will join us!

If you are interested in hosting a walk yourself, please let us know at friendsofcalais2020@gmail.com.
