Frequent attendees can plug their ears and go la-la-la! For those of you, who are new to the area or to library events - let me walk you through what to expect at To Bid or Not to Bid at Bent Northrop Memorial Library on Sept. 28 fro 6-9.
When you arrive you will be greeted by a member (or two) of the Friends. If you are inclined you will pay your suggested donation of $20 and get your bid number. As you arrive you will hear the jazzy music from the Hayloft performed by Will Patton and friends. There will be four rooms packed with auction items donated by local artisans, farmers and service providers. As you go from room to room you will pass cheese boards, veggie platters with hummus, and numerous other appetizers. (Pro tip - have a late lunch and have dinner with us).
As you venture into the stacks you will pass the bar set up at the back of the circulation desk (local beer and not so local wine - yup, on us). Meet old friends for a chat and meet new friends while sipping and munching, bid on a treasure or six and sway to the music. After "dinner" make sure to cruise by the freestanding bookcase across from the circulation desk where the dessert bar is located. As the evening winds down and the silent bidding ends there will be a lively "noisy auction" to entertain you until it's time to fulfill your bid and collect your treasures - it is a great party and we can't wait to see you!!
