The issue of a "public bank" has been in the news lately, and has been positively supported by a number of candidates in the recent election. Many of us know very little about the subject. Osher (OLLI) will give us the chance to learn about this important topic, because Gwen Hallsmith will present a talk entitled "Public Bank: a Choice for Vermont?" on Wednesday, November 12 at 1:30 at the Aldrich Library in Barre. Ms. Hallsmith is Executive Director of the Public Banking Institute, and former director of planning and community development in Montpelier. She will explore the question of how a public bank would affect Vermont. Free to Osher members, $5.00 donation for others.
