The Darn Tough Ride is a benefit bicycle ride for the Mt. Mansfield Winter Academy (MMWA) on Sunday, September 1, 2013. Choose your challenge with 25, 45, 65, and 100 mile options through Stowe, Jay Peak, ad Morrisville. Online registration closes Friday August 30th at noon, but will still be accepted in person at the bib pick-up on Saturday, from 3-5pm at the Mt. Mansfield Winter Academy, 3576 Mountain Road, and on the morning of the ride 6:30-8:30am. T-shirts and rider bags available until quantities last.
The Darn Tough Century Ride is indeed…Darn tough! The newly revised complete route is a 100-mile loop from Stowe over over Smugglers’ Notch, north through quiet country roads, and then back over Smugglers’ Notch to return. The total elevation is over 8000’, including two Category 2 climbs. To satisfy the competitive spirit of its participants, many of whom are competitive skiers, there are two optional timed hill climbs (Smugglers’ Notch both sides) to test your legs of steel.
