Commemoration of Hiroshima Day

Past event
Aug 6, 2024, 11 AM to 12:30 PM

Your are invited to the commemoration of the bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki at 11 am at the BCA Center on Church St in Burlington (next to City Hall) on August 6th, the day the atomic bomb was dropped on the city of Hiroshima in Japan in1945. Several speakers will be bringing attention to the horrors of the past with the intention that they never happen again. Members of the coalition will lead a dramatic reading of House Resolution 77 "Embracing the goals and provisions of the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons," introduced by Representative Jim McGovern (D-MA) with 43-cosponsors. Many Vermonters recognize the tenuous times in which we live, and the all-too-real threat of nuclear war. We are inviting our congressional representatives to raise their voices with us at this critical time in history. Please join us, in person.
