Event: Nov 12, 2014, 5:30 PM to 9:00 PM
Come out in solidarity with the Diné people for a night of good local food, music, and community!
Wednesday November 12, 5:30-9:00pm
Center School House, 786 Upper Rd, Plainfield, VT
Through this meal, we are offering a chance for people in our community to contribute money to the Sheep Emergency Fund which provides funds urgently needed by Diné families in Black Mesa, AZ to buy back their unjustly impounded herds of sheep and goats with fees amounting to about $1000 per family. Traditional Diné families have been resisting forced relocation in the Big Mountain/Black Mesa area for 40+ years as a result of massive coal strip mining and uranium mining operations.
Dinner will be served from 5:30pm to 9:00 pm, with options for an omnivorous plate or a vegan, gluten-free plate at $20 per person. Herbal tea will also be provided, but folks are welcome to BYOB and a friend or an instrument or both.
All proceeds will go directly to Black Mesa Indigenous Support, who will be collecting and distributing the funds to families who are being directly targeted.

“Our life is connected to the life of the sheep. We are alive and strong because of them, and being close to them, being with them everyday, keeps us strong. Especially now in our old age the sheep are important to us. If we are too far from our sheep, we can become frail. “
