Melany Kahn's children's book, Mason Goes Mushrooming, is about a young local boy and his four-legged pal, Buddy, who go on a woodland treasure hunt for edible mushrooms through lush Vermont landscapes.
Melany will share excerpts of her book with us and will guide the audience on how to identify common mushrooms. There will be plenty of opportunity for Q and A and interactive mushroom identification. As a special treat, Melany will demonstrate cooking techniques to bring out the Umami flavors of a variety of cultivated and foraged mushrooms for the group to taste.
Many of you may have met Melany last fall when she led a mushroom foraging and tasting event at Allis State Park.
