Hello Neighbors,
The Colchester Town Democrats will hold a meeting on:
August 8th, 6-7 pm at the Burnham Library
At this meeting, we'll be nominating a slate of 15 Justice of the Peace candidates for the Colchester Democratic Party for the November general election. This meeting is open to the public.
If you'd like to be nominated as a Justice of the Peace candidate with the Democratic Party for the November ballot, please email
colchesterdemocratsvt@gmail.com
If you're interested in running for JP as an independent or with another political party, you can find contact information and details through the Colchester Town Clerk's Office or the Town Chair of that party. Each town party will have similar caucus meetings to nominate JPs.
Want to know more about being a Justice of the Peace? It's a wonderful way to get involved and connect with your community. Justices of the Peace play a vital role, including serving on the Board of Civil Authority, which helps with elections and hears property tax appeals and abatements. JPs may also administer oaths and perform marriage ceremonies.
You can learn more about the role of a Justice of the Peace on the Secretary of State's Website here: https://outside.vermont.gov/dept/sos/Elections%20Division/town%20clerks%20and%20local%20elec[...]pdf
