On Aug. 3rd, come at 6:00 for a FREE barbecue/potluck/picnic before the Montpelier Contra Dance at the Capital City Grange Hall! If the weather is good, we'll eat outside; if it rains we'll move to the comfortable Lower Level of the Grange Hall. The Grange will supply and cook beef and vegan burgers, plus hot dogs, and also supply buns, condiments and...ice cream cones for dessert! Please bring a side-dish to share to fill out the meal--beverages, chips, pickles, salads or additional desserts! We'll have jazz standards played by the Montpelier Senior Jazz Ensemble too!

Dancing will start with a lesson for new folks at about 7:40 PM, followed by dances from 8:00 to 11:00 PM. The lesson and all dances will be taught and called by Julian Blechner; great live music will be played by Good Company: Cecily Mills on cello, Helen Kuhar on guitar and Rohan Weeden on fiddle.

Admission is "choose your price": $12 for adults, $5 for kids and low-income dancers, and $20 if you can give a bit more to pay the band and caller a bit more. If you can, bring clean, soft-soled shoes to dance in, or clean outdoor shoes really well for the sake of our dance floor. Hydrate at the water fountain, and fill up at the water-bottle filling station, it's bound to be warm!
