Nominate a slate of Justices of the Peace to appear on the ballot. This is the Waitsfield Democratic Party Committee. You must be registered to vote in Waitsfield. If you are a member of the Republican Party you need to be nominated by your party. Independents need a signed petition. Check with the Town Clerk regarding the petition.

Created by the Vermont Constitution in 1777, the office of justice of the peace is one of Vermont's oldest public offices.

Duties include participating as a Board of Civil Authority member by serving as an election official and assisting on election days, hearing and deciding tax appeals, and serving as a member of the Board of Abatement.
