Community National Bank is sponsoring the free ice cream social and there will be 3 tubs of ice cream: Strawberry, Maple Walnut and Brown Butter Bourbon.
The program will consist of historic marches, show tunes, specialty pieces and an overture.
August 5th will feature Sally Fishburn on trumpet performing "The Enchantress." This is an overture saved from the USS Vermont and originally heard by dignitaries and guests at ports of call as The Great White Fleet toured around the world. The USS Vermont was one of 16 new battleships commissioned by Teddy Roosevelt who was at Hampton Roads VA to greet the return of the fleet on February 22, 1909. The ship and crew have passed into history but we have, and perform some of her music.
We also hope to perform Schindler's List with a solo by Kirsten Harter on flute.
Come for the ice cream, stay for the music. Only three summer concerts remaining. All are free and open to the public. All concerts are weather permitting and you may want to bring a lawn chair to sit in. Note that there are no public restrooms. Location is the bandstand at the Caledonia County Courthouse, Main St and Eastern Avenue, St. Johnsbury.
