Dear Neighbors,
Tomorrow, the City Council will convene its first of two meetings for the month of November.
We will begin our evening at 6pm with a work session in Room 12 downstairs in City Hall. The subject of the work session will be an update on Burlington Telecom following the Public Service Board decision regarding the settlement with Citibank. This PSB's discussion was great news for Burlington and for BT and will give us the opportunity to move forward in finding a secure future for BT in the years to come.
Following this work session, we will begin our Council meeting at 7pm in Contois Auditorium following a very brief Local Control Commission meeting. The first item on our Council agenda is an update from CCTA. We had asked our CCTA representatives to attend a Council meeting on a quarterly basis and update us on developments at CCTA in response to the strike and employee concerns.
On our deliberative agenda, we will be appointing community members to the position of Fence Viewer (as well as the Board of Tax Appeals and the DPW Commission in the Council meeting with Mayor presiding.) We will be voting on a resolution regarding the exploration of the feasibility of offering municipal sales of gasoline to consumers. We will then be voting on an ordinance regarding smoking prohibitions in City parks. This is a first reading of this ordinance and will be referred to the Ordinance Committee for further discussion. We will be voting on the final adoption of a 24 hour smoking ban on the Church Street Marketplace. We will also be voting on changes to the Ordinance as it pertains to peddlers and solicitors.
We will then have council committee reports, comments from councilors and the Mayor.
Please keep in mind that you are welcome to come to a council meeting and speak to the Council on any subject you wish during our Public Forum which begins at 7:30pm.

Please keep in mind that at all Council meetings are televised live on Channel 317 on Burlington Telecom.
As always, I welcome your questions and concerns. Please email or give me a call over the weekend or tomorrow.
All my best,
Karen
