Things are happening at the Craftsbury Conservation Commission Japanese Knotweed Demonstration site in Mill Village! Lots of hard work has made it possible to see the Little Hosmer stream in Mill Village. Thanks to those who have put in many hours to knock back the knotweed in order to restore the biodiversity of the area. This work has also provided a glimpse into Craftsbury history - there are great views of the old mill sites!
If you value the biodiversity of Craftsbury as well as the history of Mill Village (or simply enjoy working side by side with others), please join us in the removal of Japanese knotweed at the demonstration site.
Thursday 8/1 from 5-6 pm we will work on cutting and digging knotweed on the bank of TH19 in order to see where the erosion is flowing. The cutting and digging needs to be done as quickly as possible so the knotweed does not grow back up before covering and so we can determine how to deal with the erosion the knotweed is letting happen. This will be a big job and many volunteers are needed.
Please park at the Little Hosmer Boat Launch. Bring tools such as shovels, loppers, pruners, work gloves, etc., if you have them. There will also be tools available on site.
If there is hard rain on Thursday, our rain date will be Friday from 5-6.
