Join the Jeudevine and the Galaxy Bookshop on Thursday, August 8, at 6:30 PM, when we welcome Vermont author and educator Ken Cadow for a reading and Q & A of his young adult novel, Gather. This book was not only a finalist for the National Book Award for Young People's Literature in 2023 but also chosen as the 2024 Vermont Humanities Vermont Reads Book.
Though labeled "Young Adult," this book is an excellent read for anyone who loves a book set in Vermont about people who could be your neighbors and friends. The main character, a teenager named Ian, does his best to navigate growing up with a life complicated by hunger, poverty, and addiction and does so with a deeply caring heart.
The Jeudevine will have free paperback copies of the book available through the Vermont Humanities Vermont Reads program. The Galaxy Bookshop will have hardcover copies available for sale at the event for those who prefer that format.
