A View from Germany: Conversation with Two Journalists

Past event
Aug 28, 2024, 7 to 8:30 PM

An August Neighbor-to-Neighbor Lecture Series! This program comes our way from long-time Grafton resident, Liisa Kissel who will be moderating the panel discussion.

The European Union's attention will be increasingly on the United States as the November elections approach, but what exactly do our European allies think about events on the world stage such as: the war in Ukraine, refugees, Russia, political trends, recent elections in France and the UK, as well as the upcoming U.S. elections?

Join us for an illuminating panel discussion on these topics with two German journalists, Bettina Musall and Werner Kilz. Both presenters have had long and distinguished careers with Der Spiegel, the leading German newsweekly. Grafton resident Liisa Kissel, who is originally from Finland and lived in Germany for several years, will be moderator.

This will be a fascinating evening, spotlighting international relations, trends, conflicts, politics and the mood in Germany--a close neighbor of Ukraine-- and winding up with a focus on the upcoming elections in the U.S. There will be time reserved for audience Q & A.

Seating is limited and will fill up quickly. Make sure to contact us so we can save you a seat. Light refreshments will be available, our space is fully accessible, and we now have air conditioning.

Contact: librarian@graftonpubliclibrary.org for more information or to register in advance.
