Save the date! Beat Black Friday by a Week! Give a gift that keeps on giving! Shop at the bazaars, and then shop locally, in town. St. Stephen's Episcopal and Memorial Baptist Churches in Middlebury are hosting bazaars that feature items from artisans around the world. Ten Thousand Villages has been hosted for several decades at Memorial Baptist and offers jewelry, carvings, woven items of clothing and accessories, ornaments, and musical instruments from around the world. The Alternative Gifts Bazaar offers Punjammies (clothing from women in India, who have been rescued from the slave trade); Bead for Life (colorful handmade jewelry from Uganda which supports women who can then support their children); Fair Trade coffee, tea and chocolate; stocking stuffers from the Hunger Site; gift cards from Habitat for Humanity; books for all ages with emphasis on spirituality and faith; and in kind gifts of animals for people in developing countries. All proceeds return to the artisans. Ten Thousand Villages is also open on Friday, 11/21 from 3pm-6pm. Alternative Gifts is open for an hour, beginning at 10:15 on Sunday, 11/23. Both churches are handicapped accessible.
