Who hasn't always wanted a Guinness World Record? Well Vermont – here's our chance! On August 10th, at 4:00pm in the Middlebury Memorial Sports Center, we will attempt to break the World Record for "Most Dogs to Attend a Film Screening." Local filmmaker Andy Knight Mitchell will premiere his latest film, Inside the Mind of a Dog – narrated by Rob Lowe and released on Netflix August 9th. Dogs are encouraged to attend this FREE screening. If 220 or more dogs attend with their owner, the town of Middlebury will be honored with an official Guinness Book World Record.

The screening is presented by Middlebury Underground, in cooperation with Homeward Bound Animal Shelter, the Better Middlebury Partnership, the Memorial Sports Center, Lacewing Production and Red Rock Films. More than a screening, it's a dog party, with food, music, and giveaways. Free dog treats provided by Kelly's K9 Cookies. Owners and their pooches can help make history, put Middlebury in the record book, and have an awesome time doing it!

Inside the Mind of a Dog is a highly entertaining, deep dive with Rob Lowe, to uncover the mysteries of the world's most popular pet. It is directed by 4-time Emmy Award winning filmmaker Andy Mitchell and Produced by Red Rock Films, creators of the recent fan-favorites, Inside the Mind of a Cat, Penguin Town and Secrets of the Whales.

Details for Dog Owners:

We need 220+ dogs! Here's how: Dogs must go through a simple registration process to appease the bean counters at Guinness. Registration is quick and easy – just a photo and a few questions for owners. Complete rules are listed below. WE HIGHLY RECOMMEND PRE-REGISTRATION online before the event, but it can also be done at the door. Pre-Registration does come with benefits, including preferred seating, free popcorn, doggy treats, and other fun giveaways. Licensed vet and emergency pet care will be on site. On site registration opens at 3:00, movie begins at 4:00. To reduce the time dogs need to be in the memorial rink, we're going to start letting dogs in closer to the 3:30.

Guinness Rules:
Dogs must be leashed at all times. Crates are not allowed to be used.
Dogs must be accompanied by a handler at least 16 years old. One dog per handler.
Dogs must have natural appearances (no clothes, dyed hair or accessories other than a collar.)
Dogs must be at least 1 year old to be included in the count.
Free registration will be completed at the beginning of the event. Click here for Pre-Registration – highly recommended.
Participants and their dogs need to be in place for 10 minutes during the movie screening. (We will explain, it's not as silly as it sounds.)
Dog owners are responsible for the behavior of their dogs at all times.
Dogs with aggressive history will not be permitted to attend.
Dogs must have current licenses and vaccines.
Dog waste must be cleaned up by the owners.
Doors open at 3:00. Movie begins at 4:00 sharp. Dogs who arrive late will not be counted in the attempt.
