The Northern Vermont Astronomy Club, in collaboration with the Northeast Kingdom Astronomy Foundation, will hold a special session and star party on Saturday, July 27 to learn how to set up and use a telescope. If you have one that you'd like to bring and learn how to set up, or if you want to practice on one of NKAF's telescopes, this is your chance!
The session will start at 7:30 PM at the Northern Skies Observatory in Peacham - well before dark, so that you'll have lots of time in the daylight to set up the scope and get it oriented correctly - much easier when it's light! Then we hope you'll stick around as it gets dark to try it out!
Mid-summer skies will be on display, and there's a chance that (as astronomers have been predicting) that a nova will flare up in Corona Borealis, which should be visible to the naked eye!
The weather is looking fabulous! As always, bug spray and a sweater are a good idea, leave your flashlights off, park in the Peacham school lot and follow the lighted walkway up to the observatory!
