Jazz at the Lantern is doing something a little different this Summer! We invite you to join the Brass Lantern Inn & Firefly Productions on Thursday, August 1st from 6:30-8pm for our first Jazz at the Lantern Picnic out on the Brass Lantern Inn's back lawn.
The Jazz at the Lantern Picnic will be a special outdoor event on August 1st from 6:30-8pm featuring guitar virtuoso Bob Gagnon. Bring your own picnic (and chairs, blankets, sunscreen & shade) while you enjoy stunning mountain views and world-class jazz on the lawn of the historic Brass Lantern Inn.
Guests may bring their own adult beverages to enjoy on the lawn, and additional beverages will be available to purchase and consume on the porch or patio of the Inn overlooking the event. Pretzel sticks and ice cream will also be available for purchase, but we will not be serving the usual Jazz at the Lantern menu/desserts. No BBQ grills or on site cooking is permitted.
About the Performers
Celebrate the start of August in beautiful Stowe, Vermont with jazz guitar virtuoso Bob Gagnon. Bob Gagnon was raised in a musical family near Burlington, Vermont. He began playing and studying guitar at the age of 6, inspired by the playing of his father and Chet Atkins. After studying jazz at Ithaca College, Bob formed the Bob Gagnon Trio in 1989.
A review of Bob's CD "Apple for the Teacher" in Seven Days compared his playing to George Benson and Pat Martino. Bob's playing, composing, and arranging styles are greatly influenced by chord/melody guitarists Barney Kessel and Bucky Pizzarelli.
Mr. Gagnon will be accompanied by Steve Sawyer on saxophone & clarinet, Andy Smith on bass, and Tom Teare on drums. The music of the Bob Gagnon Quartet is the result of more than 30 years of collaboration between Bob, Steve Sawyer, and Andy Smith. Tom Teare joined the combo in 2010, bringing modern jazz, funk, and R&B influences. Together they cover jazz from traditional to modern and feature some of Bob's compositions.
Don't miss this special performance of Bob Gagnon & Friends here in Stowe at the Brass Lantern Inn.
General admission for 1 person is $32.10 (inclusive of sales tax), or $107 (inclusive of sales tax) for a group/family of 4. Kids under 5 free.
Please note that this event is Rain or Shine ~ we will be hybrid indoors/outdoors should the weather not cooperate, and details will be emailed to ticket holders in the event of inclement weather.
Parking at the Inn is limited, so we suggest parking at the Shaw's Grocery next door if the inn lot is full (please avoid the dock area).
