PLAINFIELD DEMOCRATIC CAUCUS to Nominate Justice of the Peace Candidates

All Plainfield Town Democrats are invited to caucus on Friday, August 2, at 4:00 PM at 87 Main.St. (brick house next to Positive Pie), for the purpose of nominating candidates for Justice of the Peace to appear on the November General Election ballot.

If you are interested in running, please attend. Plainfield elects a total of 7 JPs, and we will have at least two openings, so please step up for this important local office. Terms begin in February and run for two years.

In Vermont, Justices of the Peace (JPs) are the lowest level elected officials identified by party.

They:
* act as local elections officials to support free and fair elections in their communities;
* hear tax abatements and assessments to provide a transparent and responsive process;
* administer oaths (such as the voter's oath when registering to vote);
* perform marriages

Posted as required and in accordance with 17 V.S.A. §2413(a)(1) and (2).
