Very Important Zoning Hearing, Wed. Nov 12th, 7pm Town Center

What is your vision for Richmond? What would you like to see developed or not developed along Rt 2 between the interstate and the village? The Planning Commission is holding a very important public hearing on Wed. Nov 12th to hear your thoughts on their proposal for the Gateway District. The commission has proposed major changes to the currently allowed sizes, uses and character of the development for this area, similar to our commercial and industrial districts. Take a look, ask questions and if you can, come to the meeting.

New Uses Proposed:
Business yard
Garage, Repair
Light Manufacturing, no maximum s.f. (was 5,000sqft)
Food processing
Personal services, no maximum s.f. (was 5,000sqft)
Office, no maximum s.f. (was 5,000sqft)
Private club
Research lab, no maximum s.f. (was 5,000sqft)
Tavern
- Parking lots can be built in front of buildings if the bldg. is set back 150ft from Rt 2. (now required on the side or in the back)
- At least 50% of all new development must be in commercial use
- Size of buildings can be up to 17,000 sqft if they are set back from Rt 2 by 200ft
- Flat roofs are allowed on all bldgs. 10,000sqft or larger (now required to be pitched)
- Bldgs can be built of any material (now required to be wood or brick)
- The entrance OR windows must face Rt 2
