GunSenseGun Sense Vermont Local Community Meeting
GunSense Vermont organizers here in Stowe met for the first time this past Wednesday the 21st with Ann Braden who traveled from Brattleboro to meet with us here in the Church. She is a well organized and articulate young mom who presented us with a plan to help update our gun laws in Vermont specifically.
A follow-up meeting will be held again on Wednesday the 28th at 7pm, again here at the church so if you missed the first one you are welcome to this next evening to continue the conversation. Ann will come and bring another representative to speak with us.
Lesley Rust and Monica King will continue to gather signatures for the Petition, with the goal being to obtain 5,000 signatures Statewide by the end of September.
Three target efforts of the coalition are to
1. Advocate for Universal Background checks,
We are already having online dialogues and conversations around what exactly Universal Background Checks would mean....who would conduct them and how...?
2.Tougher gun trafficking laws, and
3. Safe storage laws.
This is also being passionately debated within the context of emails within the Vermont Gun Sense community debaters, some spanning the globe and on active duty in hazardous places.
Monica King will serve as Moderator.
In the interest of love, freedom, fairness and transparency, Monica King is an Independent Nurse Consultant who owns INEDA, the International Nursing Exchange and Development Agency.
