Preservation Burlington is offering two tours during the ONE Ramble this Saturday, July 27th, as well as hosting a booth at the ONE World Marketplace. Please join us!

ONE Neighborhood Walking Tour: 10-11 am (meet at the William Wells statue in Battery Park)

The Old North End is one of the oldest sections of Burlington and we want to share its history with you! Preservation Burlington is leading a walking tour of the Old North End during The Ramble to give a closer look at how the area has changed over time. From Civil War heroes to award-winning firefighting companies, come walk and learn more about the people who made the Old North End what it is today!

Elmwood Cemetery Tour: 2-3 pm
(Meet at gate on Elmwood Ave)

At Elmwood Cemetery at 2:00, historian Elise Guyette, will visit the graves of some of Burlington's Black citizens, including those who were Revolutionary War Veterans and some who provided safe harbor to those seeking freedom on the Underground Railroad. A few served powerful people as servants and laborers, while others were skilled barbers, cooks, nurses, and homemakers. All were buried in the northern half of the cemetery, which was segregated at the time it was built.

Elise's research brings to light new facets on a plot more noted for North End notables, such as Frances (Fanny) Allen and John Norton Pomeroy.

The tours are open to all; suggested donation is $10. All proceeds will go to Preservation Burlington's education and advocacy efforts.

We will also have a booth at the ONE Marketplace from 11-3 at The Ramble, please stop by and say hello! Merch available (totes & hoodies).
