The landowners and foresters hosting this event are all women.
Come walk through a recent timber harvest that focused on improving wildlife habitat, forest regeneration, diversity and resiliency utilizing forest management techniques such as irregular shelter woods, single tree selection, and a patch cut. We will discuss the differences between these techniques as we walk through examples, focusing on the patch cut whose goal is Ash regeneration in the face of the Emerald Ash Borer.
The landowners, both Coverts Cooperators, along with their foresters will answer questions about forest management and timber harvests, how they can improve the health of the forest and create habitat, as well as specific lessons learned by the landowner through this project. We will have a potluck from 4:00 – 5:30 pm, and our walk in the woods will be from 5:30-7:30 pm.
