The Galaxy Bookshop looks forward to welcoming two author booksellers to the store for Indies First Day on Saturday, November 29th. Hardwick novelist Jodi Lew-Smith and poet and essayist Julia Shipley of Craftsbury will be in the store between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m., chatting with customers and recommending their favorite books.
Hundreds of independent bookstores across the country will be hosting local authors this November 29, celebrating the Indies First movement. Launched by author Sherman Alexie, Indies First encourages authors to volunteer at their local store, to give back some of the support that independent bookstores have traditionally given to authors.
In addition, November 29th is Small Business Saturday! Founded in 2010 by American Express, the Saturday following Thanksgiving has become nationally recognized as Small Business Saturday, a day to celebrate the diversity and sense of community--not to mention the economic benefits--that small businesses bring to our towns.
