Hello Neighbors,
I am Melo Grant your Central District City Council and I am also the chair of the Public Safety Committee. Councilors Barlow (North District) and Neubieser (Ward 1) also serve on this committee. I wanted to remind everyone that the committee meets once a month to review community safety issues in our city. We also review data from the Fire and Police chiefs as well as data from the State's Attorney's office. We have a meeting tonight, it is remote and the Zoom link is on the agenda located here on CivicClerk https://burlingtonvt.portal.civicclerk.com/event/7348/files/agenda/11354. The meeting is recorded and will be linked to CivicClerk under Meeting Media if you would like to watch it at a later time.
Tonight's agenda will include Public Forum, a look at data, presentations about Traffic Enforcement (Sgt. Mellis from BPD), a new Harm Reduction project to help people suffering from Substance Use Disorder (BC McCombie from BFD and others), and we will hear from BPD's Recruitment team (Corporal Carolynne Erwin and Recruitment Coordinator Anhad Bajwa). There has been a lot of information covered in our meetings the last few months. Some of the meetings have been long but I urge you to at least review the minutes and the Chief's reports. If you want to hear more about a topic you can watch just that part of the meeting. You can get to the committee meetings by going to the City of Burlington's website, click on the Calendar, then search for the meeting you want to watch.
