Raise Awareness About Hunger and Take the 3squaresVT Challenge

Past event
Nov 16 to 22, 2014

This November 16-22, as part of National Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week, Hunger Free Vermont invites you to build awareness about food insecurity by taking the 3SquaresVT Challenge. The 3SquaresVT Challenge seeks to highlight what it is like to eat on the average 3SquaresVT benefit, approximately $36 a week for a single person (amount varies by household size).
Hunger in Vermont is both wide-reaching and complex, with 1 in 8 of our neighbors struggling to afford enough food, and over 87,000 receiving 3SquaresVT benefits. The purpose of the Challenge is not to match the reality of food insecurity for Vermonters, because every family’s situation is different, but to instead draw attention to the experience of living on a strict food budget allotment and how that may or may not change your daily life both physically and mentally.
To learn more and sign up for the Challenge, visit www.hungerfreevt.org/3Squaresvt-challenge. Please spread the word by sharing this invitation with your colleagues, networks, family and friends. If you have specific questions about the Challenge, email Angela Smith-Dieng at asmith-dieng@hungerfreevt.org.
