Public Meeting to Review Plan for Y-Woods

A public meeting to review a draft Forest Management Proposal for the Y Woods will be held on July 24, at 6:00 pm, at the Multi Purpose room at the Bennington Firehouse located at 130 River Street in Bennington. This meeting had originally been planned for June but had to be rescheduled.

The Y Woods is located on the south end of town and consists of about 30 acres of municipal forest. A public meeting was held in March of 2023 for input on creating a draft forest management plan for the property.

The Town director of the Department of Public Works, RJ Joly, along with partners including the Bennington County Forester Cory Creagan and SW Tech Forestry teacher Eric Bishop have developed a draft plan which includes public input received.

Creagan has since left for a new role and his successor, Tessa McGann will be taking over for him. McGann will be presenting the draft management plan for public input and review at the meeting.
