Chamber Music Series Continues Wednesday at Elley-Long

The Craftsbury Chamber Players perform innovative works old and new on Wednesday, July 17 at 7:30 PM at Elley-Long Music Center in Colchester.

The second concert of the Craftsbury Chamber Players' summer series begins with Mozart's quartet for oboe and strings K370/368b, one of the most important works for oboe in the chamber music literature. Next is Fantasie by Bohuslav Martinu from 1944, a commissioned work featuring the theremin, an early sound synthesizer. The instrumentation is for theremin, oboe, 2 violins, viola, cello, and piano. The first half ends with Sergei Rachmaninoff's Vocalise performed by theremin and piano.

Following intermission, the program concludes with Johannes Brahms' deeply passionate Piano Quartet no. 3 in c minor. Opus 60.

The performers are Darryl Kubian, theremin, Andrew Adelson, oboe, JoAnna Farrer and Mary Rowell violins, Kenji Bunch, viola, Frances Rowell, cello, and Monica Ohuchi, piano.

Tickets are available at the door. Single admission – $25; Students – $10; Children 12 and under – free. Free tickets are available to check out at all Chittenden County public libraries including Burlington Fletcher Free, and South Burlington Community Library.
