Past event
Jul 24, 2024, 7 to 8 PM

Recently Jan Bender, author/editor of the 1991 book "A History of the Town of Grand Isle as Told by the People of the Town," met with board members of the Grand Isle Historical Society. Jan donated 10 autographed copies of her book, to be sold at a price of $40 each. The copies will be available at the Annual Meeting. All proceeds will benefit the Historical Society. She also donated materials collected during her research for the book to the Historical Society. Included are Grand Isle Co-Operative Creamery records, farm and store account books, a veterinary class notebook, Quaker items and many cassette tapes featuring local people telling their stories.

"Voices From the Past" will include excerpts from the book, "A History of the Town of Grand Isle as told by the People of the Town," snippets from the tapes, a presentation of the items recently donated, and old photos that need to be identified.
The program will take place after the 6:30 p.m. Annual Meeting and Election of Officers. Light refreshments will be provided. The meeting is free and open to the public. Please join us at the Hyde Log Cabin site, 228/230 US Rte. 2, Grand Isle.
