The goal of the Shoreland Subcommittee is to focus and coordinate efforts to protect our shoreland and improve the quality of the water of Lake Champlain. The subcommittee fosters an open forum to seek input from the community before and will make recommendations to the Planning Commission, Selectboard, town departments, or the state for review and implementation. Our goals are to:
1. Establish a Public Education Program: share with town residents best practices about shoreland protection and how to reduce phosphorus entering the lake
2. Clarify the Building Permit Process: promote a permitting process for shoreland construction that is well-defined, fair, efficient, easy to understand; and
3. Source Public Funding for Lake and Shoreland Conservation Projects: identify public and private projects that protect the shoreland and improve the health of Lake Champlain
