Gordon Cole, lifetime resident of Worcester, quietly passed from this world into the next, one day after his 96th birthday, Sunday, July 7th. His dry Vermont sense of humor along with his mischievous smile, and his legacy of photography will stay with all of us. Gordon was a quiet man, and loved walking in the woods of central Vermont with his trusty camera taking photographs of various waterfalls, wildlife, and what he described to me over the last few months as "capturing a moment" because the "moments are gone just like that and I wanted to show people what I saw". He was intrigued by light and shadow and had his own darkroom but he embraced change and also saw the benefits and possibilities with digital cameras and online tools for his work.
His son, Clyde, has arranged a memorial service at the Worcester United Methodist Church for Saturday, July 20th at 11 AM. Calling hours are at 10 AM. All are welcome and there will be an opportunity to share stories or thoughts if you are so inclined. David Book will be guiding the service. Thank you, David, for being a much appreciated visitor in his final months.
Please come out and celebrate Gordon's life and legacy - he valued this community and spoke often of his childhood and education here. He shared "I just can't imagine ever wanting to be nowhere else"
If you would like to attend, but transportation is a barrier, please email me through this forum and we will figure out a way to get you there.
