Straight from Buenos Aires, the Alejandro Ziegler Quartet thrills music lovers and Argentine tango dancers alike with a riveting blend of innovation and tradition in tango music. Since 2007, the quartet has played 150 concerts in 80 European cities, toured the US, and performed widely in Buenos Aires. Highly accomplished musicians, they flirt with chamber music expression without abandoning the unpredictable spontaneity of popular music and improvisation. Theirs is a new synthesis of the traditional tango orchestra, inspired by Di Sarli, Pugliese, Troilo, Gobbi, and others. Ziegler’s own compositions come alive through surprising arrangements and intimate interplay among piano, violin, double bass, and bandoneon—the quintessential tango instrument that sounds like an accordion. Let your ears and eyes sweep you into the magical world of Argentine tango. Non dancers most welcomed.
