Kayaking for Seniors, Waterbury Center State Park
July 10- Aug 28, Wednesdays 2:30-4:30PM
Sponsored by the Community Senior Center of Richmond, Huntington and Bolton
Do you have a kayaking sitting in your yard that you haven't used in
years?
Have you never kayaked, but want to try? Have you always wanted to explore Waterbury Reservoir, but don't have anyone to go with?
Do you have joint pain, reduced flexibility or balance issues? Pre-register for a session or more with Cathy Webster, a physical therapist and American Canoe Association kayak instructor, and program manager of the Northeast Disabled Athletic Association's Adaptive Kayaking program.
Kayaks are adapted with high back( comfortable )seats, stabilizing outriggers and a variety of paddles that can help reduce strain on your upper back, shoulders or wrists. With a few tips, some practice and maybe just a little bit of assistance, seniors are able to be active and enjoy the natural beauty the Waterbury Reservoir has to offer.
Pre-registration necessary- contact Cathy at web0501@qmail.com $20 suggested donation, will be waived if this is a hardship.
The CSC will cover the cost if you can't. There will be a jar for kayakers to put donation in--you may just ignore--walk on by. If you need transportation, carpooling is available. Let Martha know--martha@cscvt.org
