Rob Mermin Talk on Marcel Marceau and Mime

Past event
Jul 10, 2024, 5 to 6:30 PM

Circus Smirkus founder Rob Mermin studied circus techniques around the world, including learning mime from the famous performer Marcel Marceau. Rob will present a free Vermont Humanities talk titled "Adventures in Mime and Space: the Legacy of Marcel Marceau" at Greensboro United Church of Christ's Fellowship Hall on Wednesday, July 10 at 5:00 pm. Mermin will discuss the metaphors of mime technique and Marceau's particular influence on the world's cultural history. Marceau is best known as a virtuoso performer, but he also worked in the French Resistance saving Jewish children during WWII. The program is sponsored by Greensboro Free Library and supported in part by the National Endowment for the Humanities. Mermin recently published his memoir, Circle of Sawdust, and will have signed copies for sale. For more information, contact the Library at 802-533-2531 or greensborofree@gmail.com.
