A Sunday Stroll through Hinesburg Gardens July 14th

The Hinesburg Garden Tour is just two weeks away-Sunday, July 14th from 10am-3pm. Tickets are $20 and are selling quickly, but still available at Red Wagon Plants and The Carpenter-Carse library here in Hinesburg. When you purchase your ticket you will receive your sticker (ticket) with information about the tour and a map with directions to all six gardens on this self guided tour-start where you want and end where you choose!

Three of the gardens are centered in the village with the other three just a short drive away. While each garden is unique it's worth mentioning some features that will entice you. One is focused on fruits and vegetables with circular paths that wind through lettuces, carrots and tomato structures (just to name a few of the plants) all of which are framed by blueberries, raspberries, elderberries and climbing kiwis. Two others in the village demonstrate beautifully how a small house lot can create an inviting sense of "place". Still others are more grand, with others less formal including water elements, beautiful stone walls and of course, the perennial border.

An informational table will be set up at one of the sights to provide useful scientific advice in the prevention, identification and management of the invasive "Jumping Worm" which continues to have an impact in our gardens, but more importantly in the forests that surround us all.

This is a rain or shine event held to benefit the Carpenter-Carse Library.

P.S. We hear there might be morning Madrigal Music at one of the gardens-stay tuned!
