This Sunday is the first of the 2024 Bluegrass Brunches up at the Braintree meeting house (https://www.chandler-arts.org/cca-events/braintree-bluegrass-brunch-june). Build up your appetite and enjoy some great scenery on a challenging gravel road bike ride to arrive at the event before the music starts at noon.
Interested riders should meet at The Gear House at the corner of Prince and Pleasant Street in Randolph ready to leave by 10 AM. Then we'll set out to Thayer Brook Road and our first climb of the day, which is a gradual climb of about 4 miles. Then we are in for a smooth descent along Riford Brook Road down to Route 12A. After a short mile and half on pavement, we turn right onto Bent Hill Rd. There are two short, but steep (12% grade) climbs on Bent Hill - one near the bottom and one near the top before it reaches Braintree Hill Rd. Then it is a rolling 2 miles to the meeting house, where we can join up with the crowd at the Brunch. Total length of the ride is just under 15 miles. I would call this a moderately challenging ride because of the overall climbing and the two steep pitches on Bent Hill Rd. Suitable for gravel, ebikes or mountain bikes. I can send you a .gpx file or you can find the ride in Komoot here - https://tinyurl.com/22vj4adt.
The weather is looking a little bit questionable for tomorrow. If it is raining hard or looking like an imminent thunderstorm, we probably will skip the ride. Looking forward to having you join us if the weather gods cooperate.
