White Rocks Mountain Trail Work Hike

Past event
Jun 29, 2024, 9:30 AM to 3:30 PM

On Saturday, June 29th the Middlesex Conservation Commission will be conducting a work hike on the White Rocks Mountain Trail. The Commission has recently adopted this trail and this will be our first maintenance hike. We'll be joined by Jesse Hoover with the the Vermont Department of Forests, Parks and Recreation so this will be a good learning experience. We will be hiking the White Rocks/Mount Hunger loop and performing actual maintenance work on the White Rocks Trail that branches off from the Mount Hunger Trail and eventually connects with the trail up Mount Hunger from Waterbury. Tasks will include cleaning waterbars, trimming brush and removing blowdowns. If you have brush clippers, a shovel or a handsaw bring them along and the Commission will have a couple of sets of brush clippers available. We will meet at the Middlesex trailhead on North Bear Swamp Road at 9:30 a.m. You can join for part or all of the hike, the entire hike will probably take between 4 and 6 hours. Rain date is Sunday, June 30th.

If you're planning to come please reply to Dave Shepard at shep@pshift.com or 802-229-1744 since it's helpful to know how many workers there will be.
