Why are these fossil-rich tropical reefs in Northern Vermont and New York?

Suggested donation of $10 per adult
driving, walking, and standing will be required of participants weather permitting - children must be accompanied by an adult donations will support the ILM Recreation Department
After learning about the quarries of the region and the geological evolution of the Lake Champlain Valley, travel to Goodsell Ridge to view fossilized remains of marine reefs. Participants will hear how the reefs ended up in the decidedly non-tropical present-day Vermont, the science behind how we know where they came from, how and when they formed, and their significance.
