Poison Parsnip Pull at Pelots

Past event
Jun 29, 2024, 8:30 to 10:30 AM

With all this rain and heat the parsnip is growing like a weed! We will be having a Poison Parsnip pull at Pelots on Saturday June 29th from 8:30am to 10:30am. Even if you can come for an hour that would be a big help. We will again work in the middle meadow where it is the worst. We will access it from the parking lot down Wildflower Lane. Check out the new trail signs!

You will need to wear long pants/shirt, have sturdy shoes, gloves and a hat(deer flies are out) to keep yourself protected. The parsnip is like Poison Ivy and can give you a rash. Does this sound like fun?! 😂

The parsnip is an invasive which spreads quickly if not tended to each year. I will have 4 Parsnip Predator shovels for use and I will also have regular shovels to use as well. Below is a short video from the Prairie Enthusiasts who make the shovels on how to use them.
