Rochester Public Library is pleased to announce the Summer Series on International Affairs , expertly managed by Ann and Mike Van Dusen and Lizzie Shackelford. All talks will take place in the library's upstairs room.
Talks will kick off on June 27 at 10 am with Dr Ellen Frost, longtime summer resident of Royalton. An Adjunct Senior Fellow at the East-West Center in Washington, DC, Dr Frost will give a talk entitled "Is China Winning Hearts and Minds in Asia?"
Dr Joshua Landis will return to Rochester Library to speak about Gaza and what's next there. Dr Landis is a Professor and holds the Mackey Chair at the University of Oklahoma. He is also Director of the Center for Middle East Studies and Center for Iranian Studies in the Boren School of International Studies.
July 11, 10 am.
Elizabeth Shackelford, Rochester resident and former diplomat for the US State Department including a posting to South Sudan, will speak about the civil war in Sudan, "The World's Worst Crisis that No One is Watching".
July 25, 10 am.
In August, Michael Purcell will give a talk entitled "The Physical and Moral Value of US and NATO Support to Ukraine". A retired Lt Col USMC, Mr Purcell is Adjunct Professor at the George Washington University, where he teaches at the Elliot School of International Affairs in the Security Policy Studies
Graduate School Program.
