On June, 21st yogis around the world will celebrate International Yoga Day. This year's theme is "Yoga for Women Empowerment". To honor this special day, I invite you to join me in practicing yoga at the Westford Public Library in the morning before opening and / or in the evening after the library closes. (Find the details below and thanks to Bree for providing the space!)
Both practices are free and suitable for everyone with some experience in yoga and a certain degree of mobility. Choose one or both times and even if the theme is women-centered, EVERYONE (woman, man and everyone in between) is welcome. Just bring your own mat. No sign-up required but I will ask you to sign a waiver.
Aside from enhancing women's physical health, yoga supports mental resilience and an overall sense of empowerment. Through a holistic approach, yoga fosters self-awareness, confidence, and inner strength, which are essential for overcoming societal challenges and personal obstacles. Through yoga, women can cultivate a profound connection with their bodies and minds, leading to improved self-esteem, reduced stress, and a greater sense of autonomy.
Morning Practice:
from 8:30 - 9:45am, we will salute the sun, a symbol of power, and by doing so discover our own source of strength. Expect a slow flow that includes strong standing poses like warriors to build up heat and open up the upper body. Thus prepared we will explore our courage and determination in a couple of backbends.
Evening Practice:
from 7:00 - 8:30pm, we will salute the moon which represents femininity, cycles and change, transformation but also balance. Expect a more relaxed practice which includes breath work (pranayama) followed by a heart-centered guided meditation. Please, bring a blanket or cushion to sit on or you can sit on a chair.
Please, don't hesitate to reach out if you have any questions.
Hope to see you on International Yoga Day,
Doris
