**********

At the foot of the "Muntagna" rises the historic palmento dedicated to local viticulture Palmento Costanzo is a place rediscovered by our family. A historic palmento restored according to conservative architectural choices, a place that speaks of the Muntagna, the name we fondly call the Etna.

Eighteen hectares divided into several contradas and hills. The small parcels are vinified separately because each plot is characterized by the lava flow that sedimented over time. Exclusively native varieties – Nerello Mascalese and Nerello Cappuccio, Carricante and Catarratto – trained with the traditional alberello technique using chestnut poles and under organic Equalitas management. Just like the vines, ours is a group of local and selected talents: a young, well-prepared and highly-motivated team aiming to make Palmento Costanzo the perfect choice for wine lovers from all over the world.  - Valeria Agosta Costanzo

Palmento Costanzo owns 18 hectares, 12 of which are in Contrada Santo Spirito, in Passopisciaro, within the municipality of Castiglione di Sicilia. Here stands the first vineyard that ever acquired by the Costanzo family, populated by vines that exceed 120 years of age. The remaining plots stretch towards the nearby contrade of Zottorinoto, Bragaseggi and Feudo di Mezzo. Palmento Costanzo also cultivates vineyards in Santa Maria di Licodia, in Contrada Cavaliere, a cru in the southwestern side of the Etna that is particularly suitable to Carricante.

The vineyards of Palmento Costanzo are located in Contrada Santo Spirito, in the heart of the Parco Naturale dell'Etna, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Mt. Etna, Europe's highest active volcano, offers one of the most spectacular territories in the world. An active and dynamic place, overflowing with terrestrial energy: a vigorous natural laboratory where everything evolves and transforms. The Etna is teeming with biodiversity: vineyards and olive groves, Mediterranean scrub and pistachio trees, forests of holm oak, birches, oaks and chestnut trees that shelter rich wildlife. Over 3,000 meters, only ice and rocks thrive: this is the volcanic desert of ash and lapilli, at times traversed by blazing lava, which the Etna uses to constantly change shape and reveal its unyielding power.
