On Monday evening at 6:30pm at the East Montpelier fire department, the EM Selectboard will listen to a group of residents who are deeply concerned about the potential illegality of the sale of Goddard College to a commercial real estate developer. Last week, the town of Plainfield agreed to send a letter to the Vermont Attorney General, the Governor's office, and the VT Secretary of State asking them to investigate unlawful conduct by the Goddard board of trustees who may be attempting to sell off the college in back-room deals without any community engagement. Residents are asking the East Montpelier Selectboard to do the same. The sale of Goddard to a commercial real estate developer could have enormous and potentially detrimental impacts on Plainfield, East Montpelier, and nearby towns. If you care about this issue affecting our community, please consider attending the meeting at 6:30 pm in person or by zoom.
