Dear Dale Road & Stanbury Road Residents,
The Department of Public Works (DPW) is excited to announce a proposed pedestrian zone pilot project on Stanbury/Dale Road aimed at enhancing pedestrian safety and addressing traffic calming concerns. A new pedestrian zone is proposed by removing parking on the east side of Stanbury/Dale Road, where the sidewalk terminates.

The zone will be protected with temporary vertical orange delineators, similar to those used on North Ave for bike lanes. The pedestrian zone will provide a dedicated space for walkers. Additionally, the delineators will visually narrow the road, which is expected to slow down vehicle traffic, creating a safer environment for all road users. Occupancy counts are being conducted to ensure feasibility. We aim to extend the pilot until winter, pending approval from the Public Works Commission.

This initiative is being undertaken in conjunction with the NNE Sidewalk Scoping work, aligning with our broader efforts to enhance pedestrian infrastructure throughout the area. https://www.ccrpcvt.org/our-work/transportation/current-projects/scoping/burlington-new-nort[...]dy/ Public Works Commission Meeting: June 26, 2024, 6:30 pm @ 645 Pine Street there will be a virtual zoom link; to discuss and seek approval for the pilot from the Commission. https://burlingtonvt.portal.civicclerk.com/event/7241/files
