There will be a public hearing on Burlington's permit process on Monday, October 27, 7-9 pm, in Contois Auditorium. We want to hear what your experience has been, whether you are a resident who has had to get permits to make renovations and improvements to your house, or if you are a building professional who does a lot of business with the City (zoning and building permits alike). What has worked well, what could be better?
On Thursday, October 30, the Public Safety Committee will meet from 6-7:30 pm in Conference Rm 12. The topic is safe needle disposal. We have invited all departments of the City to attend, and tell us how they are stepping up to help with retrieval and disposal of needles in public spaces. We will also get a report from the subcommittee (chaired by Councilor Colburn) working on a plan for disposal containers.
On Monday, October 27, I will be on the Channel 17 5:25 show with Housing Director Brian Pine to talk about the City's Housing Strategy. We will be sharing elements of the draft plan. It would be great to get your calls with your questions and opinions on the tight housing market in Burlington, how it is affecting you, and what the City should do about it. Around Nov. 10, the Mayor will be issuing his version of the plan, which will be discussed at the Nov 20 (6-8 pm) meeting of the Community Development and Neighborhood Revitalization Committee.
