Acclaimed author and climate activitist, Bill McKibben, will be speaking at Lareau Pavilion on Thursday, June 20th. The event will start at 6:30, with opportunities for Q&A and book signings later in the evening. The event is sponsored by Mad River Climate Action, American Flatbread, The Valley Reporter, Champlain College, and Friends of the Mad River.
McKibben is the founder of 350.org and the Third Act. He has written over a dozen books about the environment, including his first, The End of Nature, published in 1989. In 2014 he was awarded the Right Livelihood Prize, often referred to as the alternative Nobel. He has won the Gandhi Peace Award, and holds honorary degrees from 19 colleges and universities and currently serves as the Schumann Distinguished Professor in Residence at Middlebury College here in Vermont.
