The Vergennes Burying Ground Restoration Project will be hosting a very special Memorial Ceremony, Sunday June 23rd with contributions from the Seth Warner-Rhoda Farrand DAR Chapter and the SUVCW James A. Garfield Camp 62.
The organizations will be conducting a remembrance ceremony and marker dedication for two soldiers: Major Jesse Lyman; a veteran of both the Revolutionary War & the War of 1812, and a Civil War veteran, Private Sanford Ayres, whose memorial stone was recently replaced.
We will be holding ceremonies for each soldier, with some military honors provided.
