Our Community Cares Camp Annual Meeting

Past event
Oct 29, 2014, 6:30 to 8 PM

Our Community Cares Camp will hold its annual meeting this Wednesday evening at 6:30 at Camels Hump Middle School.

The purpose of the meeting is to elect board members and officers and review the camp performance and make plans for the future. The public is invited and encouraged to attend. Anyone with questions may contact occc@gmavt.net in advance or just show up to the meeting.

OCCC has been in operation as a 501(c)(3) non profit corporation for 6 years. OCCC offers free summer camp to over 90 children each year from Bolton, Huntington and Richmond, and a few from Jericho. OCCC also prepares meals for all the children attending summer academic programs in Chittenden East Supervisory Union. OCCC served 5000 meals last summer. OCCC has two camps - one for grades k - 6 and the other for upper middle schoolers. OCCC provides a critical service to children who might not otherwise be able to attend a summer enrichment program. OCCC activities and 2 meals a day feed the whole child and provide activities such as music, art, cooking, gardening and all sorts of games and creative play.

OCCC also has a job training program to teens aged 14 - 16. OCCC employs up to 30 people each summer as counselors and cooks, many of them are local teens who need summer employment.

OCCC has sponsored a tuition based summer arts camp the last two years to help keep that resource within the greater Richmond Community. We will be deciding if we will continue to offer that resource to local families. This camp has failed to meet expenses the past two years.

Come to the meeting and learn more about how we accomplish this each year. Check out our website at www.ourcommunitycarescamp.org to learn more about the camp.
