Stillwater State Park, Groton State Forest, Groton, Vermont
Join us for our 26th year of outdoor educational experiences for the whole family! Outdoor Family Weekend is a collaborative effort between UVM Extension and the Vermont Agency of Natural Resources Departments of Fish and Wildlife, and Forests, Parks and Recreation. Together, we aim to inspire a better understanding of environmental conservation, safety, and outdoor fun among the public.
This year holds special significance as we celebrate Vermont State Parks' 100th Anniversary and Smokey Bear's 80th birthday! It's an occasion to embrace our natural heritage and the importance of conservation efforts.
Families will arrive and set up camp on Friday. Classes are scheduled for Saturday and Sunday mornings, led by expert instructors who kickstart each session with the basics, offering hands-on experience and encouraging questions. Topics include wildlife, forestry, orienteering, wilderness first aid, hiking, outdoor cooking, camping skills, canoeing, firearm safety, fishing, and much more.
